SHOOK thinks

What's the one question we ask EVERY day without fail? This week's SHOOK thinks explains more...

“What did you shake today?”

This is a question we make ourselves ask each other at the end of every day at SHOOK. I say make but it’s become a habit. We designed it because we believe in the power of tiny as one of the key ways to add up to big change.

One of the reasons “What did you shake today?” has become a habit is it makes us feel good. And positive emotions build habits.

On a great day, there are too many positive shakes to choose from and we’re wowed by what we’ve achieved in just one working day.

On an inevitable shit day (let’s be honest: we all have them whether because it was admin filled or something didn’t go our way), it reminds us it wasn’t all shit.

Either way, it keeps us on track and shows us we are making an impact every day – lots of tiny positives in the right direction to add up to bigger ones.

Behaviour design is part of SHOOK’s internal beliefs and culture as well as how we approach client problems in creative, communications and campaigning. SHOOK’s set of behaviours and habits – alongside our beliefs – add up to who we are.

We see this question as a great way to ensure individual ‘shaking’ adds up to a bigger whole, as well as a great way to get people talking as they wrap up their day.

When we’re back in the office, you’ll see a prompt on the way in “Today is going to be a great day:” and one on the way out “What did you shake today?”. For now, they both work brilliantly remotely.

The more we ask the question and the more we grow as an agency, the more enjoyable – and important – the question (and answer) has become. I can’t wait to see what the answers add up to next.
