Things look different from the outside, in

We had a call, a long overdue and lovely catch up with someone. We were telling them more about us and getting up to speed on what they’re up to.

They talked about what they’ve been doing and to us it felt completely fresh, a different way of thinking about their industry. We could immediately see lots of ways it tapped into current trends, could appeal to new audiences and knew who’d want to talk about it. To them it was so obvious (their day to day) that it wasn’t obvious (what was so interesting about it).

We had another call to be briefed on something. The thing that sparked our biggest thinking – on a new opportunity – was buried in the presentation almost as an aside.

A lot of the time, brands and businesses are sitting on the answers, you just need someone to look from the outside-in, to help you get them out.
